Artist profile - Spike Ivory. (Used with persmission courtesy of the artist) RRL: Spike, we love to get feedback on our recordings from fellow musicians who are also out there working the digital marketplace. We would love to get your thoughts and opinions on a few Rockin' Rich Lynch songs. Spike Ivory on "Jersey Heart Mersey Beat": "...love the old school Jersey rock with all the Springsteen references..."
Spike Ivory on "Next King of Rock and Roll" and "You Might Hear a Heart": "...every track on the albums are great nice flowing songs, heartfelt lyrics and staying true to the old rock and Jersey sound - excellent job..."
RRL: As a long-time member of the independent music community, what lessons have you learned? What have you discovered about yourself in the process? SI: The main thing I found is just stay true to yourself. Don't let people or trends tell you which way to go. There are so many talented, undiscovered artists out there! Just keep on plugging away. RRL: What's a compliment that stayed with you longer than you expected? SI: One of the best and coolest compliments I had was when I was doing a Veterans Show in D.C. and Bill Medley was on the bill. He said that if Bruce Springsteen and Cat Stevens (combined) - that it would be Spike Ivory. RRL: What's a moment that restored your faith in people? SI: People that desire and are still open to new music (not the force fed stuff on the radio) thats what keeps me going. RRL: What's a decision you're grateful your past self made? SI: The best decision I have ever made was to walk away from a major label in the late 80's to raise my son on my own. He was 6 months old at the time. RRL: What are you currently working on? What's on the horizon? SI: I put a new album out in 2023 called "Outside Looking In". It has received a great deal of streams on all platforms and some local play here and there - and also some great reviews. Right now, just bouncing around some stuff in my head at the moment to release when it comes together - and, also I continue to play some local shows.
